Maxine Swann's short story "Flower Children" won the Cohen Award, the O.Henry Award, and the Pushcart Prize, and was included in The Best American Short Stories 1998. She is the author of the novel Serious Girls. Last Sunday at the KGB, she read from new work.

In the words of Mary Gordon, "Maxine Swann's novel Serious Girls is a small masterpiece ..."

Robert Marshall's work has been published in Fresh Men 2, The Writers Eupony, Blith House Quarterly, and Queer 13: Lesbian and Gay Writers Recall Seventh Grade. He read from his novel, A Separate Reality

"Robert Marshall's unique voice, wry intelligence, sly humor, and genuine understanding of the family romance infuse his first novel. A Separate Reality beautifully depicts the poignant and bizarre condition called adolescence. It's a wonderful, imaginative work," wrote Lynne Tillman, author of No Lease on Life.
